Senior Firmware Engineer

Overview

The Senior Firmware Engineer will join a dynamic consumer electronics team on a contract basis, primarily focusing on hands-on hardware bring-up and low-level embedded development. The contractor will collaborate closely with team members, leveraging their expertise in embedded systems to drive the successful implementation of firmware solutions. Regular in-office presence is expected once a week, fostering a collaborative working environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement firmware for embedded systems.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers on board bring-up and troubleshooting.
  • Utilize debugging tools such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
  • Work with various communication protocols, including I2C, SPI, and UART.
  • Focus on power management technologies, such as battery chargers and fuel gauges.
  • Engage in low-level embedded software development using C/C++.
  • Review and interpret technical datasheets for hardware components.
  • Ensure robust performance of sensors and other embedded devices through testing and optimization.

Requirements

  • Proven experience with embedded C/C++ programming.
  • Strong understanding of hardware bring-up and debugging techniques.
  • Familiarity with communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART).
  • Experience with RTOS, especially FreeRTOS.
  • Hands-on experience with power management systems, including fuel gauges and battery chargers.
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex hardware issues.
  • Demonstrated experience working with sensors and accelerometers.
  • Capability to read and interpret technical documentation and datasheets.
