Overview
We are seeking a Senior / Principal Process Engineer with a minimum of 8 years of experience in the chemical, pharmaceutical, life sciences, or food and beverage industries. The successful contractor will lead design teams in delivering high-quality engineering outputs while working closely with project stakeholders. This role offers a mix of office-based and site work, focused on generating process documentation and managing project deliverables effectively.
Responsibilities
- Generate and maintain process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
- Conduct process calculations including heat and mass balances, hydraulics, and equipment sizing.
- Lead design reviews and participate in technical safety assessments such as HAZOP and LOPA.
- Prepare and validate process design documentation in compliance with relevant standards.
- Liaise with vendors and multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure project coherence.
- Supervise and mentor junior engineers to foster their development.
- Manage project deliverables, timelines, and budgets efficiently.
- Monitor project progress and contribute to cost reporting and man-hour estimates.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering.
- At least 8 years of relevant Process Engineering experience.
- Demonstrated ability to lead small multidisciplinary design teams.
- Familiarity with UK and international engineering standards and regulations.
- Experience with project delivery from concept through detailed engineering.
- Chartered Engineer status (IChemE) is desirable.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex information to various audiences.
