Overview
The Solutions Architect (Network) will join a multidisciplinary team to contribute to a large-scale public sector digital transformation initiative focused on modernizing legacy systems. The role involves shaping service design, ensuring secure connectivity of internet-facing cloud services with the Scottish Wide Area Network (SWAN), and engaging with stakeholders to represent architectural decisions. This contract position offers the opportunity to impact national-scale digital services significantly.
Responsibilities
- Define the end-to-end network architecture for the national platform and SWAN systems.
- Identify and analyze connectivity patterns for internet-facing integrations.
- Assess endpoint connectivity and security considerations, including mutual TLS and encryption.
- Challenge and refine service decomposition and coordination across service boundaries.
- Support technical requirements analysis and assist in backlog refinement.
- Contribute to the automated testing strategy, focusing on integration testing.
- Represent architecture decisions to stakeholders and translate technical trade-offs into recommendations.
Requirements
- Proven experience in AWS network architecture for secure, internet-facing services at national or enterprise scale.
- Expertise in hybrid connectivity patterns, including VPNs and secure service exposure.
- Familiarity with distributed and event-driven systems, particularly within .NET environments.
- Experience producing design documentation that meets security assurance processes.
- Ability to communicate technical trade-offs clearly to diverse audiences.
- Experience working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team setting.
- Knowledge of health or public sector delivery, and experience with SWAN networks is desirable.
