Overview
We are seeking a Staff Full Stack Engineer for a 12-month contract position aimed at enhancing a tech platform. The ideal candidate will engage with an experienced engineering team to build scalable backend systems primarily using Rust and Java, and modern frontend applications with React and Python. This fully remote role is designed for a contractor who thrives in a product-driven environment and enjoys tackling complex technical challenges.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable backend services using Rust and Java.
- Build and maintain high-performance customer-facing applications using React.
- Contribute to backend services, APIs, and integrations with Python.
- Take ownership of complex features from architectural design to production delivery.
- Collaborate with product, design, and platform teams to deliver impactful functionality.
- Influence technical direction and engineering standards across the platform.
- Apply best practices for performance, reliability, testing, and security.
- Utilize AI-assisted development tools for coding and debugging tasks.
Requirements
- Extensive experience as a Senior or Staff-level Full Stack/Backend Engineer in production settings.
- Strong backend engineering skills in Rust and/or Java, with commercial experience preferred in both.
- Proven experience in developing frontend applications using React.
- Hands-on experience with Python for backend services or APIs.
- Solid understanding of REST APIs, microservices, and scalable architecture.
- Experience designing and maintaining production-grade systems.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools in engineering workflows.
- Demonstrated ability to onboard quickly and deliver value effectively in a contract setting.
