Overview
In this contract position, the Tech Lead will guide engineering efforts on a high-volume online marketplace undergoing a major technology transformation. Working closely with the team, the contractor will set technical direction while ensuring project delivery continues to progress efficiently. This role requires a hands-on approach and the capability to engage with various facets of technology including cloud architecture, data management, front-end development, and APIs.
Responsibilities
- Lead engineering on the online marketplace transformation.
- Set technical direction for the transition to a service-based architecture.
- Oversee the integration of AI workflows into the platform.
- Ensure project delivery remains on track despite technical challenges.
- Collaborate with the team in-person for key meetings and workshops when necessary.
- Maintain engineering standards and communicate decisions effectively.
- Implement infrastructure as code using Terraform or CDK.
Requirements
- Extensive experience with AWS and service-based platforms.
- Proven track record of building scalable applications with infrastructure as code tools.
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript and JavaScript; familiarity with PHP and Laravel.
- Experience with decomposing monolithic applications into microservices.
- Ability to lead engineering teams in fast-paced and complex environments.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
- Experience in retail or e-commerce is advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to navigate major re-architecture or cloud migration efforts.
