Overview
The Test Engineer will be responsible for developing and executing test scripts for network infrastructure, primarily working within a hybrid model from various UK office locations and customer sites as required. This role involves collaboration with the wider Test team and other engineering colleagues to ensure comprehensive testing across various phases and systems while maintaining high standards of documentation and reporting.
Responsibilities
- Create test scripts from Test Plans, High-Level Designs (HLD), and Low-Level Designs (LLD) for network infrastructure.
- Execute test cases across various network domains, including LAN/WiFi, SD-WAN, and cloud services.
- Support all test phases, including Unit, System Integration, and Disaster Recovery Testing.
- Import test cases into ALM and ensure requirements traceability.
- Report test execution status and manage defect tracking and retesting.
- Set up network test equipment and ensure compliance with Data Centre operating procedures.
- Produce detailed status updates for test reporting and escalate issues when necessary.
- Contribute to knowledge transfer and support resource onboarding to align with project testing needs.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant testing experience in a telecom or network infrastructure environment.
- Proven experience with testing network infrastructure and telecom systems.
- Competency in Cisco switch/router console commands.
- Ability to read and interpret High-Level and Low-Level Design documentation.
- Experience with ALM for test case and defect management.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and familiarity with Teams and SharePoint.
- Demonstrated stakeholder management and time management abilities.
