User Researcher

Overview

We are seeking an experienced User Researcher to contribute to a major digital program for a UK government department. In this role, you will collaborate within an Agile team to conduct user research throughout the product lifecycle, transforming user insights into actionable recommendations that enhance digital products and services. You will work closely with a variety of multidisciplinary teams, championing user-centered design principles and accessibility.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct discovery and evaluative user research.
  • Run user interviews, usability testing, and research sessions.
  • Identify and clearly communicate user needs, journeys, and pain points.
  • Create personas, user journeys, and other research artifacts.
  • Facilitate workshops and research synthesis sessions.
  • Work closely with Product, Design, Development, and Delivery teams.
  • Champion user-centered design and accessibility practices.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a User Researcher.
  • Strong experience in discovery and usability testing.
  • Experience within Agile digital delivery environments.
  • Confident in stakeholder communication and workshop facilitation.
  • Experience with GDS, Government, or Defence projects is beneficial.
  • Must hold active SC clearance.
