User Researcher

Overview

We are seeking an experienced User Researcher to join a multidisciplinary digital team working on a high-profile UK Government programme. In this hybrid role, you will ensure user needs are prioritized in service design and delivery, collaborating with Product Managers, Designers, Developers, and Delivery Managers to deliver qualitative and quantitative research activities. This position requires active SC clearance and involves engaging with stakeholders to provide actionable insights that influence product decisions and service improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver qualitative and quantitative user research activities across the service lifecycle.
  • Identify user behaviors, pain points, and opportunities based on research findings.
  • Translate complex research data into clear actionable insights for design decisions.
  • Facilitate workshops and playback sessions to communicate user research findings.
  • Engage with a diverse range of stakeholders to advocate for user-centered design.
  • Synthesize research into personas, user journeys, and recommendations.
  • Contribute to an agile delivery environment by applying appropriate research methods.

Requirements

  • Active SC clearance is essential; applicants must already possess it.
  • Experience working within secure government environments.
  • Familiarity with GDS Service Standards or similar user-centered design frameworks.
  • Proven experience as a User Researcher in agile digital delivery environments.
  • Strong experience in conducting both generative and evaluative user research.
  • Ability to plan and conduct interviews, workshops, and usability testing.
  • Excellent skills in communicating findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills.
