Data Analyst

Overview

The Data Analyst (Research) will play a crucial role within a public sector organization by managing and analyzing research databases. The contractor will work within a multi-disciplinary team and is expected to effectively communicate analytical findings to stakeholders through creative reporting. The position is hybrid, allowing for up to 2 days a week of remote work, and is offered on a contract basis for 23 months.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the management of research databases and relationships.
  • Conduct data cleaning and querying, maintaining Excel workbooks.
  • Manipulate data using Excel and Power BI to create analytical reports.
  • Analyze information for research purposes and communicate findings effectively.
  • Take ownership of individual project objectives and targets.
  • Support copy-editing and proofreading reports for consistency and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with team members to establish effective working relationships.
  • Assist with additional tasks within the Policy and Research Team as needed.

Requirements

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, including Power Query and Macros.
  • Experience with MS Access, Power BI, and programming languages for data manipulation such as SQL, R, and Python.
  • Proven experience in gathering, managing, and analyzing complex data for research.
  • Experience in handling large-scale research projects and datasets.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Experience working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with a strong command of English grammar and usage.
