Overview
The Data Architect will engage in a 2-month contract focused on defining Enterprise AI Data Principles for a major UK Government Department's AI governance initiative. This contractor will work closely with stakeholders from various sectors including Data, Security, Privacy, and AI Governance to enhance existing architectural artefacts and develop recommendations that ensure the safe and responsible use of AI. The role is remote, with the potential for extension beyond the initial period based on project needs.
Responsibilities
- Define the organisation's Enterprise AI Data Principles aligned with enterprise architecture and governance strategy.
- Review existing Data Design & Architecture Principles and governance artefacts to identify opportunities for enhancement.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across Data, Security, Privacy, Risk, Compliance, and AI Governance to build consensus on data principles.
- Identify and assess AI-specific data risks including quality, privacy, security, and bias.
- Develop practical recommendations for ethical AI use across the organisation.
- Translate architectural principles into effective governance controls and operational standards.
- Update AI controls to ensure alignment with governance frameworks and objectives.
- Produce high-quality documentation and present findings to technical and senior stakeholders.
Requirements
- Strong background in enterprise data architecture and data governance.
- Experience with AI, Generative AI, or AI Governance programmes.
- Understanding of AI-related data risks such as quality, privacy, and accountability.
- Experience reviewing architecture artefacts and developing enterprise-level recommendations.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and consensus-building skills.
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Familiarity with governance frameworks like DAMA and ISO standards is desirable.
- Experience in regulated environments, particularly within UK Government, is advantageous.
