Overview
We are seeking a skilled Data Architect for an initial 2-month contract to support a significant AI governance initiative for a UK Government Department. The role involves defining enterprise-wide AI data principles and collaborating with key stakeholders across multiple disciplines to enhance data governance and address emerging risks associated with artificial intelligence. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to influence the governance framework that ensures the responsible use of AI within the organization.
Responsibilities
- Define the organisation's Enterprise AI Data Principles aligned with overarching architecture and governance strategies.
- Review existing Data Design & Architecture Principles and related governance artefacts for enhancement opportunities.
- Collaborate with stakeholders in Data, Security, Privacy, Risk, and AI Governance to achieve consensus around data principles.
- Identify and evaluate AI-specific data risks, such as data quality, privacy, security, and bias.
- Develop actionable recommendations to promote safe and ethical AI use.
- Translate architectural principles into operational governance controls, policies, and standards.
- Update AI controls to align with enterprise governance frameworks and organisational goals.
- Produce high-quality documentation and present findings to both technical and senior business stakeholders.
Requirements
- Proven experience in enterprise data architecture, data governance, and standards development.
- Background involvement in AI, Generative AI, or AI Governance initiatives.
- Strong understanding of AI-related data risks including data quality, security, and accountability.
- Experience with reviewing architecture artefacts and developing enterprise-level recommendations.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills across multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Familiarity with governance and architecture frameworks such as DAMA, ISO 27001, GDPR, and others.
- Experience working in highly regulated environments, particularly within UK Government, is preferred.
