DevOps Engineer

Overview

We are seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer with full stack experience in Python and React for a 3-month contract role focused on developing a public sector digital service. The successful candidate will work within an Agile team, engaging in hands-on development, automation, and operational delivery to create secure and reliable software. This role requires a proactive individual who is comfortable taking ownership throughout the software delivery lifecycle, from development to deployment.

Responsibilities

• Develop accessible and responsive front-end applications using React and TypeScript.
• Build secure backend services and REST APIs using Python and FastAPI.
• Implement integrations, database changes, and reliable AWS deployments.
• Develop and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines and testing frameworks.
• Work with PostgreSQL and DynamoDB on data modeling and query optimization.
• Troubleshoot defects and improve service reliability for production releases.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on development skills in React, TypeScript/JavaScript, and Python/FastAPI.
• Experience with building REST APIs, microservices, and secure authentication methods.
• Practical knowledge of AWS services, including IAM and serverless or container-based solutions.
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Git, code reviews, and automated testing.
• Comfortable working collaboratively in Agile delivery teams.
• Desirable experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and container orchestration.
