Overview
We are seeking an Embedded Software Contractor specializing in Linux to contribute to a significant project set to run until July 2027. The successful candidate will work within a dynamic team focused on developing embedded Linux firmware for various hardware platforms and will play a pivotal role in device driver development. This position offers the potential for a temp-to-perm arrangement and allows for collaboration in a vibrant research and development environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop embedded Linux firmware for target hardware platforms, including kernel configuration and BSP updates.
- Implement software to support platform bring-up and peripheral integration (e.g. UART, SPI, I2C, PCIe).
- Integrate firmware into the broader system, ensuring compatibility with existing software components.
- Investigate and resolve technical issues related to firmware, including hardware/software interaction faults.
- Produce supporting artefacts such as design documentation, test specifications, and release notes.
- Deliver embedded Linux firmware components and updated software modules.
- Provide evidence of testing and validation at various levels (unit, integration, system).
- Compile issue investigation reports and document resolution outcomes.
Requirements
- Experience in embedded Linux development, particularly with OMAP and iMX6 platforms.
- Proficiency in kernel configuration, BSP updates, and device driver development.
- Familiarity with peripheral integration protocols such as UART, SPI, I2C, and PCIe.
- Strong problem-solving skills for investigating hardware/software interaction issues.
- Ability to produce and maintain design and test documentation.
- Eligibility for a BPSS check.
