Overview
The Embedded Software Contractor will join a team focused on the development of embedded Linux firmware for target hardware platforms. Working within a collaborative environment, the contractor will develop device drivers, configure kernels, and perform platform integration tasks, contributing to a large-scale project with a deadline of July 2027. This role offers the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art equipment and the potential for a temp-to-perm transition at the contract's conclusion.
Responsibilities
- Develop embedded Linux firmware for target hardware platforms including kernel configuration and BSP updates.
- Implement software to support platform bring-up and peripheral integration, such as UART, SPI, I2C, and PCIe.
- Integrate firmware into the system, ensuring compatibility with existing software components.
- Investigate and resolve technical issues relating to firmware and hardware/software interactions.
- Produce design documentation, test specifications, and release notes as supporting artifacts.
- Deliver updated or new software modules integrated into the platform.
- Provide evidence of testing and validation for firmware components at various levels (unit, integration, system).
- Generate issue investigation reports and document resolution outcomes.
Requirements
- Experience with embedded Linux and device driver development.
- Proficiency in kernel configuration and BSP updates.
- Knowledge of peripheral integration (UART, SPI, I2C, PCIe).
- Strong problem-solving skills related to firmware and hardware interactions.
- Ability to produce design documentation and test specifications.
- Familiarity with testing and validation methods in embedded systems.
- Eligible for a BPSS check before starting.
