Overview
The Enterprise Architect will play a critical role in shaping the technology strategy and architecture for a UK regulated bank undergoing a major transformation. This role involves hands-on collaboration with engineering and transformation teams to define and implement enterprise architecture aligned with strategic business objectives. The architect will focus on integrating emerging technologies such as AI and cloud solutions into banking operations, ensuring compliance with governance and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Define and own the bank's end-to-end enterprise architecture strategy and roadmap.
- Establish architectural principles, standards, and target-state architectures across business and technology domains.
- Lead architecture across major transformation programmes, including core banking, payments, and cloud.
- Develop transition architectures that manage operational risk during modernization.
- Design and promote cloud-native, scalable, resilient, and secure solutions on AWS.
- Shape the strategy for AI-enabled architecture and intelligent automation.
- Build relationships with senior business and executive leaders to influence decision-making.
- Present architectural strategies and transformation roadmaps at executive forums.
Requirements
- Proven experience leading an enterprise architecture function within banking or financial services.
- Extensive experience in designing and delivering cloud-native platforms on AWS at enterprise scale.
- Track record of managing large-scale technology transformation programmes.
- Deep domain expertise in banking platforms, payments, FX, or high-volume transaction processing.
- Strong understanding of both legacy and modern technology estates.
- Significant experience with event-driven architectures and distributed systems.
- Ability to influence executive-level stakeholders effectively.
- Experience working within a highly regulated environment.
