Overview
The Environmental Advisor will provide specialist environmental advisory services across a portfolio of major infrastructure projects within the Thames Water AMP8 framework. Working in a hybrid capacity, this role involves collaboration with project leadership teams and technical specialists to identify environmental risks and ensure compliance with statutory obligations. This position offers the chance to influence project outcomes in a supportive and technically engaging environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialist environmental advice during pre-construction and construction activities.
- Develop and maintain Environmental Management Plans (EMPs).
- Assess environmental risks related to ecology, biodiversity, conservation, and contaminated land.
- Conduct environmental inspections across project sites and offer practical recommendations.
- Collect and analyze environmental performance data, reporting findings through technical documentation.
- Advise project teams on compliance with contractual and statutory environmental requirements.
- Collaborate with design, commercial, and operational teams to facilitate project delivery.
- Manage multiple projects while prioritizing environmental requirements and objectives.
Requirements
- Significant experience as an Environmental Advisor in Civil Engineering or Infrastructure projects.
- In-depth knowledge of UK environmental legislation and compliance.
- Proficient in developing and implementing Environmental Management Plans (EMPs).
- Experience supporting projects in pre-construction and Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) phases.
- Familiarity with ecology, biodiversity, conservation, and contaminated land.
- Proven ability in conducting environmental inspections and site assurance activities.
- Strong stakeholder management, report writing, and presentation skills.
- Ability to influence teams and challenge decisions to ensure environmental compliance.
