FM Transformation Director

Overview

We are seeking an Interim Director of Facilities Management (FM) Transformation & Development to lead a transformative programme within a significant NHS Trust. This strategic executive role will involve working closely with senior leaders, external consultants, and key stakeholders to shape the future operating model for Property & Facilities Management services, in alignment with the New Hospital Programme. The successful candidate will oversee large-scale transformation initiatives, ensuring operational readiness for future healthcare standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all Property & Facilities Management matters related to the New Hospital Programme.
  • Develop and implement the Directorate's Target Operating Model (TOM) to align with transformation objectives.
  • Build and manage the Property & FM transformation function, focusing on workforce planning and capability development.
  • Commission and oversee external consultancy support for service maturity assessments and FM strategy reviews.
  • Deliver large-scale organizational transformation across Estates and Facilities services.
  • Support the development of the Trust's digital estate strategy, including Smart Buildings and Intelligent Hospital capabilities.
  • Lead risk management and commercial planning activities across the transformation portfolio.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders to ensure effective programme delivery.

Requirements

  • Extensive senior leadership experience within NHS or public sector Estates, Facilities Management, or Transformation environments.
  • Proven track record in delivering large-scale transformation and organizational change programmes.
  • Experience in developing and implementing Target Operating Models and future-state service strategies.
  • Strong understanding of Property & Facilities Management within healthcare settings.
  • Experience supporting major hospital development or infrastructure programmes.
  • Knowledge of Hospital 2.0 standards and digital estate strategies is highly advantageous.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with experience engaging executive leaders and national NHS bodies.
  • Demonstrable experience within complex governance and programme management frameworks.
