Overview
We are seeking a senior Forensic Accountant/Auditor with extensive expertise in banking and financial investigations to undertake a 3-month initial contract. This remote position requires immediate engagement and involves collaborating with various stakeholders to reconstruct financial activity and investigate discrepancies in financial records.
Responsibilities
- Reconstruct historical U.S. Treasury Bill and securities activity, including purchases, maturities, and liquidation proceeds.
- Trace significant cash and asset movements across banks, brokers, and custodians.
- Reconcile external financial records against the general ledger, core banking, treasury, and regulatory reporting.
- Investigate unexplained movements, unsupported balances, and material discrepancies.
- Review client assets, custody positions, beneficial ownership, and asset segregation.
- Assess the accounting treatment of bank-owned assets, customer liabilities, and custody positions.
- Investigate digital asset, cryptocurrency exchange, and OTC trading activity.
- Produce a robust forensic report and supporting evidence.
Requirements
- 10+ years' relevant experience in forensic accounting, forensic audit, or financial investigations.
- Expertise in banking and regulated financial services including U.S. Treasury Bills and cash management.
- Experience with treasury, custody, and client assets, along with beneficial ownership and asset segregation.
- Proficiency in tracing funds across banks, brokers, and custodians, including nostro accounts and balance-sheet reconciliation.
- Familiarity with accounting and regulatory reporting.
- Knowledge of digital banking, fintech, and cryptocurrency/digital assets.
- Ability to produce forensic reports and evidence packs for senior management, legal counsel, auditors, or regulators.
- Professional qualifications such as ACA, ACCA, CPA, CA, or equivalent are required; CFE experience is advantageous.
