Overview
The Senior Design Engineer will be integral to a leading Tier 1 contractor, focusing on the design and delivery of major water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Working remotely, this role involves collaboration with Principal Engineers and multidisciplinary teams to ensure the development of innovative and compliant engineering solutions. The successful candidate will play a key role in enhancing the quality and effectiveness of engineering practices while mentoring junior staff and establishing strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Deliver civil engineering designs for water and wastewater projects according to industry standards and regulations.
- Produce and review design calculations, technical reports, specifications, and drawings.
- Support multidisciplinary design activities and integration across engineering disciplines.
- Ensure compliance with legislation, standards, and quality procedures for design outputs.
- Provide technical support to procurement, construction, and site teams.
- Contribute to engineering governance and quality maintenance across project deliverables.
- Attend design reviews, client meetings, and site visits as necessary.
- Mentor and share knowledge with graduate and junior engineers.
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent qualification.
- Experience in the municipal water and wastewater sector with utility clients.
- Chartered Engineer status or actively working towards chartership.
- Strong knowledge of water and wastewater assets and associated civil engineering structures.
- Familiarity with health and safety legislation, British Standards, and industry regulations.
- Ability to produce and review technical documentation, including design calculations and reports.
- Experience with hydraulic calculations and assessments.
- Exceptional communication and technical report-writing skills.
