Overview
The contract Forward Deployed Engineer will lead the initial phase of a new client engagement by exploring possibilities and building proof of concepts before a delivery team is established. This role involves substantial hands-on technical work and direct client interaction, making it essential for the engineer to effectively communicate and clarify the client’s goals. The position allows for flexibility in work methods and promotes innovative problem-solving without restrictions on tools used.
Responsibilities
- Engage directly with clients to understand their goals and needs.
- Develop solution architectures and make informed technology selections.
- Build proofs of concept that validate proposed designs.
- Define engineering pipelines, including tools, workflows, and AI coding agent guardrails.
- Establish quality approaches such as testing procedures and code reviews.
- Facilitate knowledge transfer by pairing with client engineers and documenting processes.
- Produce architectural decision records for ongoing reference and clarity.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in using AI agents to develop production software.
- Proven ability to decompose ill-defined problems and deliver effective solutions.
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript or Python, with experience in frameworks like NestJS or FastAPI.
- Direct client interaction experience with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Excellent written communication skills, especially in documenting architectural decisions and technical documentation.
- Prior experience in consulting, professional services, or forward deployment environments.
- Practical architectural skills suited for proofs of concept, pilot projects, or full-scale production.
