Overview
We are seeking a contract Forward Deployed Engineer to lead an initial client engagement, focusing on turning client goals into actionable solutions. This role involves hands-on technical work with significant client interaction, requiring the ability to clarify ambiguous problems and collaborate effectively with non-technical stakeholders. As the first engineer on-site, you will help define the project direction and create proofs of concept for future scaling.
Responsibilities
- Lead the initial phase of client engagements to determine solution architecture and technology choices.
- Create proofs of concept that validate designs for client applications.
- Define the engineering pipeline including tooling, workflows, and AI coding agent regulations.
- Establish quality standards and processes, including testing and code review.
- Facilitate knowledge transfer through pairing with client engineers.
- Document architectural decisions and maintain comprehensive documentation.
Requirements
- Proven experience utilizing AI agents to develop production software.
- Strong track record of addressing poorly defined problems and delivering effective solutions.
- Expertise in TypeScript or Python, with familiarity in frameworks like NestJS or FastAPI.
- Experience in client-facing roles, demonstrating strong presentation skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly in writing, especially in producing architectural decision records and documentation.
- Background in consulting, professional services, or forward-deployed engineering.
