Overview
We are seeking a Senior GCP Engineer to join a specialist Google Cloud delivery team focused on a significant financial services project. The contractor will be responsible for building and managing a secure and scalable observability capability within a regulated Google Cloud environment, collaborating closely with other GCP engineers to maintain standards and readiness for deployments.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the Logging and Monitoring workstream within GCP.
- Develop centralised Cloud Logging and manage aggregated log sinks.
- Implement log routing to BigQuery, Cloud Storage, and Pub/Sub.
- Set up Cloud Monitoring with metrics scopes and alerting policies.
- Design and maintain Grafana and Dynatrace dashboards.
- Ensure uptime checks and SLO-based alerting are operational.
- Troubleshoot production deployments using telemetry data.
- Codify the observability environment using Terraform.
Requirements
- Proven experience with Google Cloud Platform and associated services.
- Strong proficiency in Terraform for infrastructure as code.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and GKE.
- Familiarity with CI/CD processes, including Jenkins and Groovy.
- Experience with Go or Golang development and Python automation.
- Knowledge of observability tools, including Grafana and Dynatrace.
- Prior work within financial services or regulated environments is preferred.
- Understanding of security, governance, and compliance best practices in cloud settings.
