Infrastructure Engineer

Overview

The Cloud Infrastructure Engineer will engage in hands-on work within a hybrid environment, focusing on both GCP and AWS platforms. This contract position offers the opportunity for the engineer to take genuine ownership of architecture, security, and automation initiatives while collaborating closely with development teams. The role emphasizes the design and management of cloud infrastructure using Terraform and Ansible, providing a chance to implement scalable solutions while participating in a culture that values autonomy and collaborative decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain Terraform modules and configurations across GCP and AWS environments.
  • Build and manage Ansible playbooks for configuration management, deployment and automation.
  • Architect scalable, highly available cloud solutions that meet business and security requirements.
  • Collaborate with development teams to align infrastructure with application and performance needs.
  • Monitor cloud resources and drive cost optimisation and governance best practice.
  • Implement security controls, compliance frameworks and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Automate routine operational tasks to improve reliability and reduce manual effort.
  • Lead incident response and troubleshooting across complex cloud infrastructure.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure engineering, systems administration or a similar role.
  • Strong hands-on expertise with GCP and AWS platforms.
  • Advanced Terraform experience for Infrastructure as Code development and management.
  • Extensive Ansible experience for configuration management, automation and orchestration.
  • Proficiency in Linux/Unix administration and networking fundamentals.
  • Experience with scripting and automation using Bash and Python.
  • Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Solid knowledge of cloud security best practices and compliance frameworks.
