Overview
The Interim Finance Director will oversee the commercial finance function for a key operating division within a multi-site services group. Collaborating closely with divisional leadership and external stakeholders, this role focuses on enhancing financial reporting, controls, and systems, while supporting M&A activities and driving significant business impact during the 6-month contract period.
Responsibilities
- Lead the commercial finance function for a core operating division.
- Act as Divisional Finance Director, partnering with the Divisional Managing Director and Commercial Director.
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly reporting and maintain strong financial stewardship.
- Manage the budgeting and forecasting cycle in collaboration with divisional leadership.
- Oversee management accounts production and commercial/procurement links across service lines.
- Support M&A activity, including financial due diligence and post-acquisition integration.
- Strengthen financial systems, reporting, and controls within the division.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with senior leadership and external stakeholders.
Requirements
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with substantial senior finance leadership experience.
- Strong stakeholder management skills to effectively partner with senior leaders.
- Sector experience in construction, infrastructure, facilities management, or similar environments.
- Proven experience in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
- A track record of improving financial systems and controls in multi-site businesses.
- Experience supporting M&A activity in due diligence or corporate finance roles.
- Available to start within 1-2 weeks, ideally immediately.
- Flexible, pragmatic approach with a hands-on attitude.
