Overview
We are seeking an experienced Interim Head of Data Science to enhance the operations of a growing Data Science team within a leading research and intelligence organization. This role focuses on optimizing team effectiveness, designing future team structures, and implementing governance and delivery improvements. The contractor will collaborate with various stakeholders to reshape how the team operates and supports strategic initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Assess the current operating model and governance framework of the Data Science function.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and stakeholder engagement.
- Review team roadmaps and resource planning for enhanced delivery confidence.
- Recommend improvements across Data Science development and operational processes.
- Define effective working methods between Data Science and other business teams.
- Support leadership in designing future team structure and capabilities.
- Develop a medium-term operating roadmap aligned to business priorities.
- Coach and mentor team members through organizational change.
Requirements
- Proven experience in assessing and improving Data Science or Analytics operating models.
- Strong background in organizational design and team transformation.
- Experience collaborating with Product and Technology stakeholders.
- Ability to identify and implement delivery improvements.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing capabilities.
- Experience in planning and forecasting within technical teams.
- Comfortable in evolving environments with maturing processes.
- Previous consulting experience in Data Science or Technology functions is desirable.
