Overview
The Interim Head of Product Design will play a pivotal role in leading UX and product design for large-scale digital programmes, particularly within public sector projects. This position, on a 6-month contract basis, involves a mix of hands-on design responsibilities and team leadership, requiring collaboration with senior stakeholders and involvement in new business development efforts. The contractor will work closely with an established design team to drive a product-led design approach while ensuring high-quality digital experiences for clients.
Responsibilities
- Lead UX and product design across large-scale digital programmes.
- Remain hands-on with design to shape solutions and deliver digital experiences.
- Facilitate workshops and present findings to senior stakeholders.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Support pitches, proposals, and new business opportunities.
- Provide day-to-day leadership and mentorship to the design team.
Requirements
- Proven experience as Head of UX, Head of Product Design, Principal or Lead level.
- Strong portfolio showcasing hands-on product design and digital project experience.
- Background in agency or consultancy work, preferably in public sector or government projects.
- Confident communicator with experience presenting to clients.
- Experience managing or mentoring designers.
- Understanding of the transition from UX to product design.
