Overview
As a Linux Infrastructure Engineer, you will join a dynamic engineering team responsible for managing and maintaining essential production infrastructure, focusing on Linux systems, networking, physical servers, and security. Your role will involve hands-on problem-solving as you oversee a self-managed infrastructure environment, ensuring robust operations and enhancing security measures. Collaboration with software engineers and technical teams will be key as you drive improvements in system reliability and operational maturity.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain Ubuntu Linux servers in production environments.
- Operate infrastructure across dedicated hosting and colocation environments.
- Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain networking components such as routing, DNS, firewalls, and VPNs.
- Directly work with physical servers, diagnosing and resolving hardware failures.
- Investigate production incidents, focusing on root cause analysis.
- Plan and implement infrastructure changes with a focus on system dependencies.
- Automate infrastructure management tasks using scripting and configuration management tools.
- Assess and implement security measures, including vulnerability remediation and secrets management.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in infrastructure or systems engineering.
- Strong hands-on experience with Ubuntu/Linux production environments.
- Solid understanding of Linux fundamentals, including systemd and filesystems.
- Experience managing dedicated servers and bare-metal infrastructure.
- Strong networking knowledge, including DNS and firewalls.
- Proficiency in scripting and using automation tools like Ansible.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools and observability practices.
- Understanding of infrastructure security and compliance requirements.
