Mechanical Design Engineer

Overview

The Mechanical Design Engineer for Powertrain will play a crucial role in developing next-generation high-performance marine propulsion systems. This contract position involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to solve complex engineering challenges and design innovative mechanical components that enhance performance, efficiency, and reliability within the marine sector. The role requires hands-on involvement from concept through production, ensuring that the designs meet stringent technical requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for advanced powertrain systems.
  • Create 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings using NX.
  • Support concept generation, design reviews, validation, and product release activities.
  • Perform engineering calculations and analysis to support design decisions.
  • Work closely with manufacturing, test, and development teams to resolve technical challenges.
  • Ensure designs meet performance, reliability, and manufacturability requirements.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of existing and future products.

Requirements

  • Degree qualified Mechanical Engineer or equivalent experience.
  • Strong product development background within complex mechanical systems.
  • Experience designing powertrain, drivetrain, transmission, hydraulic, or similar mechanical systems.
  • Proficiency in CAD, ideally Siemens NX.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and tolerance stack analysis.
  • Practical engineering mindset with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within cross-functional engineering teams.
