Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join an innovative aerospace engineering team on a 6-month contract basis. The successful contractor will collaborate on advanced aero-engine design projects, utilizing their expertise in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering to deliver efficient engineering solutions. This role includes the potential for a hybrid working arrangement, allowing for two days of remote work each week.
Responsibilities
- Design interfaces considering fit, form, and function for aerospace components.
- Utilize Siemens NX for design and detailing purposes, including advanced surfacing.
- Conduct hand calculations for component sizing, bolted joint calculations, and stack-up calculations.
- Write design specifications for new equipment and validate design outputs.
- Produce detailed drawings and collaborate on fabrications within engineering teams.
- Use Teamcenter effectively for managing NX CAD files and documentation.
- Perform stress calculations using ANSYS Workbench where necessary.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering; HND minimum.
- Proven experience in the aerospace industry, particularly in mechanical design.
- Strong proficiency in Siemens NX, with surfacing experience preferred.
- Familiarity with Teamcenter for CAD file management.
- Ability to conduct hand calculations and provide design validation.
- Experience with bolted joint and stack-up calculations.
- Knowledge of fabrications and experience in writing design specifications.
- Familiarity with Mathcad is a plus; stress calculations experience using ANSYS Workbench is desirable.
