Overview
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will play a critical role in supporting the design, development, and assembly of complex mechanical systems within an innovative engineering company focusing on advanced clean energy technology. The engineer will work remotely with occasional on-site presence, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to create robust and manufacturable engineering solutions. This hands-on contract role is ideal for professionals passionate about detailed design and taking ownership of their projects throughout the entire product development lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Produce detailed mechanical designs using CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE (3DX).
- Design structural steel components, chassis, frames and welded fabrications.
- Develop mechanical assemblies focusing on structural integrity, manufacturability and performance.
- Produce high-quality CAD models, engineering drawings, and manufacturing documentation.
- Collaborate closely with manufacturing teams to support fabrication, assembly and commissioning.
- Conduct design reviews and apply Design for Manufacture (DfM) principles.
- Support prototype builds and resolve engineering issues during manufacturing and assembly.
- Take ownership of designs throughout the full product development lifecycle.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer.
- Strong proficiency in CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE (3DX).
- Experience designing structural steelwork, welded fabrications, chassis or mechanical frames.
- Solid understanding of structural design principles and mechanical assemblies.
- Experience in producing manufacturing drawings and fabrication documentation.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, welding techniques and DfM principles.
- Experience supporting projects through manufacturing, assembly, and testing.
- (Familiarity with structural analysis and design optimization is a plus.)
