Overview
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting a leading spacecraft and satellite manufacturer by overseeing the end-to-end mechanical design and documentation processes for various space hardware and payloads. The contractor will work collaboratively within a hybrid environment, contributing engineering expertise during design reviews and risk assessments, while also providing hands-on support for prototyping and mechanical testing efforts.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end mechanical design and documentation for space hardware and payloads.
- Produce CAD models, assembly drawings, BOMs, and manufacturing documentation.
- Provide engineering input during design reviews and risk assessments.
- Support prototyping, assembly, AIT, and mechanical testing activities.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure manufacturability and adherence to design constraints.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design within aerospace or related fields.
- Strong CAD skills with experience in detailed design, assemblies, and production drawings.
- Proven track record of delivering mechanisms for the space or aerospace industries.
- Solid understanding of manufacturability, tolerances, materials, and assembly constraints.
- Ability to work independently and solve problems pragmatically.
