Overview
As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will focus on the design and development of rotating electrical machines and other related components. You will collaborate with a team in a hybrid work environment, engaging in innovative projects that contribute to the advancement of sustainable technologies. Your role will include hands-on development, analysis, and prototyping of designs, ensuring alignment with industry standards and customer specifications.
Responsibilities
- Lead the clean-sheet design and development of rotating electrical machines and related components.
- Conduct mechanical analysis of designs, including CAE evaluations to assess component performance.
- Utilize 3D CAD software to create detailed models and engineering drawings.
- Build and test prototype hardware and test rigs as necessary for project validation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver projects efficiently and effectively.
- Apply design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), and failure mode analysis (DFMEA, PFMEA) principles in projects.
- Ensure compliance with company quality standards and project specifications.
- Participate in safety, health, and environmental initiatives as part of the company's commitment to workplace safety.
Requirements
- Degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum five years of experience in mechanical design engineering.
- Strong proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and 2D engineering drawings.
- Experience with analytical methods and tools, such as ANSYS or MATLAB.
- Proven application of DFM, DFA, DFMEA, and PFMEA.
- Experience managing and collaborating with external suppliers.
- Familiarity with Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks is beneficial.
- Understanding of high volume manufacturing processes is a plus.
