Overview
The Senior Structural Engineer will play a crucial role within a multidisciplinary engineering consultancy focused on delivering major infrastructure projects in the water sector. This position involves collaborating closely with Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical engineers to create integrated structural designs for clean water and wastewater projects. Candidates will have the opportunity to lead or support engineering design processes while providing mentorship to junior engineers and contributing to the development of high-quality engineering solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of structural engineering design packages across water and wastewater projects.
- Produce high-quality design calculations, drawings, technical reports, specifications, and Design Risk Assessments (DRAs).
- Develop practical, efficient, and buildable engineering solutions based on client requirements and site constraints.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant standards, regulations, and company procedures.
- Manage and record design changes throughout the project lifecycle.
- Liaise with equipment suppliers, manufacturers, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Attend and present at client meetings, design reviews, and technical workshops.
- Mentor and support Graduate Engineers, Engineers, and CAD Technicians in their technical development.
Requirements
- Approximately 10 years of structural design experience within the UK water industry.
- Degree or HND in Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proficient in producing structural engineering designs for clean water and wastewater projects.
- Strong understanding of multidisciplinary design environments and engineering standards.
- Good IT and digital engineering capability.
- Membership of a relevant professional institution and working towards Chartered status.
- Experience with structural analysis and reinforced concrete design software.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
