Overview
The Mobile App Tech Lead / Architect will be responsible for guiding the technical direction of a React Native application across iOS and Android, with additional support for related mobile products. This role involves collaboration with a strong existing team and vendor partners, ensuring the architecture aligns with engineering standards while maintaining effective communication with backend teams. The contractor will utilize their extensive experience to review code, influence architectural decisions, and facilitate a seamless integration process, all while encouraging a dynamic delivery culture.
Responsibilities
- Own the mobile architecture, integration and engineering governance end to end.
- Review external vendor delivery for solution quality, technical risk, and conduct code reviews where needed.
- Act as the key link between the delivery partner and internal backend/platform teams, agreeing on API contracts and resolving blockers.
- Lead technical discovery and feasibility work alongside Product, Business Analysts, and designers.
- Define the mobile testing strategy and oversee quality controls.
- Represent the mobile product in technical governance and planning forums.
- Mentor engineers and support a fast-paced, delivery-oriented culture.
Requirements
- Proven experience leading the architecture and delivery of React Native applications across iOS and Android.
- Strong technical leadership in setting architecture, defining engineering standards, and ensuring code quality.
- A confident, collaborative communicator who effectively interacts with internal teams, external partners, and non-technical stakeholders.
- Comfortable working on fast-paced, high-visibility projects rather than slow, heavily process-driven environments.
- Vendor oversight experience is a plus, though dedicated delivery management support is available.
