Overview
The Founding Software Engineer role is focused on exploratory engineering within a new R&D function of an established B2B SaaS business. The contractor will work remotely, collaborating with customers and internal teams to identify valuable problems and create rapid prototypes that lead to actionable insights and product decisions. The position emphasizes innovation and agility, allowing engineers to experiment and learn quickly in a supportive environment.
Responsibilities
- Identify valuable customer problems and develop clear, testable hypotheses.
- Build rapid prototypes and functional spikes to validate concepts.
- Engage directly with customers to gather insights and feedback.
- Utilize AI-assisted engineering tools to create demonstrable outputs quickly.
- Document validated concepts for other engineering teams to implement.
- Contribute to the technical landscape including Salesforce/Apex when necessary.
- Iterate on concepts based on user testing and feedback.
- Collaborate with core product and engineering teams to transition successful prototypes into production.
Requirements
- Established experience as a founding engineer or in early-stage engineering roles.
- Proven ability in rapid prototyping and product discovery within B2B SaaS.
- Strong understanding of customer engagement and commercial opportunities.
- Experience with various programming languages such as Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Java.
- Familiarity with AI coding and research tools to enhance development processes.
- Comfortable working with ambiguity and defining requirements through exploration.
- Knowledge of the RevOps, CRM, and Salesforce ecosystem is advantageous.
- Prior experience in venture building or innovation teams is a plus.
