Overview
We are seeking an experienced Microsoft Fabric Data Architect / Lead for a hybrid contract role, primarily focused on enhancing the existing Microsoft Fabric environment. The successful candidate will collaborate with the internal technology, data, and insights teams to assess the current architecture, identify gaps, implement improvements, and ensure effective governance of data operations while mentoring internal staff.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate the current Microsoft Fabric environment and associated datasets.
- Identify technical, governance, and control gaps in the existing architecture.
- Establish governance standards for data quality, ownership, access, and security.
- Define clear controls for the ongoing development of the Microsoft Fabric environment.
- Implement opportunities for automating data acquisition and ingestion.
- Provide guidance on managing and assessing new datasets.
- Support and mentor a permanent Data Engineer to enhance their skills in Microsoft Fabric.
- Complete knowledge transfer to ensure sustainable management of the environment by internal teams.
Requirements
- Proven experience with Microsoft Fabric and data architecture.
- Solid background in data engineering and architectural design.
- Expertise in designing and improving data lake environments.
- Strong understanding of data governance, quality, and security controls.
- Experience with data ingestion, transformation, and automation techniques.
- Ability to quickly assess existing environments and develop practical delivery plans.
- Experience mentoring and developing team members.
- Focus on creating sustainable solutions and strengthening internal capabilities.
