Service Transition Manager

Overview

The Service Transition Manager will play a key role in supporting a major central government programme focused on Government Digital Services (GDS). Working in a remote capacity, the contractor will leverage their expertise in transitioning digital and technology services into operational support, ensuring that all services are prepared for go-live and manageable within business-as-usual processes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Service Design Packages that outline service dependencies, support arrangements, and operational requirements.
  • Lead Operational Readiness Assessments and define service acceptance criteria and approval processes.
  • Design support and operating models, including RACI/RAS documentation.
  • Coordinate Service Validation and Testing along with Change Enablement and Release Management.
  • Manage knowledge transfer processes and assure relevant documentation is up to date.
  • Plan and monitor Early Life Support and transition risks, implementing continual improvement actions.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Service Transition Manager or related role in complex enterprise or public-sector environments.
  • Strong understanding of ITIL 4 and Service Management principles, ideally with ITIL 4 certification.
  • Experience transitioning digital and IT services into live operations.
  • Familiarity with Operational Readiness, Service Acceptance, and Go-Live processes.
  • Ability to develop and manage Service Design Packages and transition documentation.
  • Experience in defining SLAs, SLRs, and OLAs.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience working with technical, operational, and business teams.
  • Familiarity with service management tools and governance frameworks.
