Overview
The Offshore Mechanical Inspector will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and safety of offshore wind farm installations, focusing on monopiles and transition pieces. Working on a 2-week on/2-week off rotation, the inspector will collaborate closely with fabrication teams and other stakeholders to monitor compliance with engineering specifications and industry standards, ensuring all components are manufactured and assembled correctly. This position requires an immediate start and is structured as a contract lasting a minimum of three months.
Responsibilities
- Inspect monopiles, transition pieces, and associated steel structures during fabrication.
- Monitor welding processes, surface preparation, and corrosion/painting applications.
- Ensure compliance with Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) and offshore standards.
- Verify material certificates, welding procedure specifications, and NDT reports prior to installation.
- Identify non-conformances and track corrective and preventive actions.
- Witness critical installation activities such as bolting and steel installations.
Requirements
- Technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Quality Management.
- CSWIP 3.1 or higher for Welding Inspection; Level II in NDT techniques (UT, MT, VT).
- Valid GWO Basic Safety Training (BST), BOSIET/HUET, and OGUK Medical.
- Minimum 3 years of QA/QC inspection experience in offshore wind with a focus on relevant structures.
