Overview
We are seeking a Product Engineer with a backend focus to join a dynamic engineering team responsible for building commercial platforms in the energy sector. In this role, you will work extensively with Python, TypeScript, and AWS to design and implement complex billing and pricing systems, while also having the opportunity to influence technical direction and solve challenging engineering problems.
Responsibilities
- Design and own backend services in Python.
- Build scalable billing, pricing, and commercial platform functionalities.
- Develop APIs and workflows to process high volumes of transactional data.
- Model complex business rules and financial calculations.
- Collaborate with Product teams to design solutions from first principles.
- Contribute across the stack where necessary, particularly in TypeScript.
- Enhance reliability, scalability, and engineering standards as the platform evolves.
Requirements
- 5+ years of commercial software engineering experience.
- Strong production-grade Python expertise.
- Experience building billing, settlement, pricing, or payments platforms.
- Background in the Energy sector, Utilities, Commodity Trading, or Financial Trading.
- Comfortable working with data-heavy systems and complex business logic.
- Strong product mindset with high ownership levels.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience in startup or scale-up environments is advantageous.
