Overview
We are seeking an experienced Product Engineer with a backend focus to join a dynamic engineering team working on complex billing, pricing, and commercial platforms in the energy and trading sectors. This fully remote position offers the opportunity to influence technical direction and solve challenging engineering problems using Python, TypeScript, and AWS. The engineer will be responsible for developing scalable systems and high-volume transactional workflows that are crucial for the company's operations.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop backend services primarily in Python.
- Build scalable functionalities for billing, pricing, and commercial platforms.
- Develop APIs and workflows that handle high volumes of transactional data.
- Model complex business rules and financial calculations.
- Collaborate with Product teams to create solutions from first principles.
- Contribute to frontend development as needed using TypeScript.
- Enhance system reliability, scalability, and engineering standards as the platform evolves.
Requirements
- 5+ years of commercial software engineering experience.
- Strong proficiency in Python for production environments.
- Experience building billing, settlement, pricing, or payments platforms.
- Familiarity with the Energy, Utilities, Commodity Trading, or Financial Trading sectors is highly desirable.
- Comfort with data-heavy systems and complex business logic.
- Demonstrated product mindset with high ownership.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience in startup or scale-up environments is advantageous.
