Overview
This role is for a Product Engineer with a backend focus, working primarily with Python, TypeScript, and AWS on billing, pricing, and commercial platforms within the energy and trading sectors. The successful candidate will join a small, high-caliber engineering team, taking ownership of backend services while also contributing to full stack development. This position offers the chance to influence product architecture and tackle complex engineering challenges in a remote setting.
Responsibilities
- Design and own backend services in Python.
- Build scalable billing, pricing, and commercial platform functionality.
- Develop APIs and workflows for processing high volumes of transactional data.
- Model complex business rules and financial calculations.
- Collaborate with Product teams to create solutions from first principles.
- Contribute to the full stack as needed, particularly with TypeScript.
- Enhance reliability, scalability, and engineering standards as the platform grows.
Requirements
- 5+ years of commercial software engineering experience.
- Strong production-grade Python skills.
- Experience in building billing, settlement, pricing, or payments platforms.
- Background in the Energy sector, Utilities, Commodity Trading, or Financial Trading is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with data-heavy systems and complex business logic.
- Demonstrated product mindset with strong ownership capabilities.
- Proficiency in collaboration and communication for team-based environments.
- Experience in startup or scale-up contexts is advantageous.
