Overview
We are seeking an experienced Product Engineer with a backend focus to join a dynamic technology team responsible for building sophisticated commercial platforms in the energy sector. This remote role will involve designing and developing scalable billing, pricing, and settlement systems, while ensuring high reliability and accuracy in transactional processes. The successful candidate will engage with a small, high-caliber team and have the opportunity to influence technical decisions and product direction.
Responsibilities
- Design and own backend services using Python.
- Build scalable functionality for billing, pricing, and commercial platforms.
- Develop APIs and workflows for processing high volumes of transactional data.
- Model complex business rules and execute financial calculations.
- Collaborate with Product to design technical solutions from first principles.
- Contribute to the full stack as necessary, including TypeScript.
- Enhance reliability, scalability, and engineering standards as the platform evolves.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in commercial software engineering.
- Strong proficiency in Python and experience building billing, settlement, pricing, or payments platforms.
- Familiarity with the energy sector, utilities, commodity trading, or financial trading.
- Experience working with data-heavy systems and complex business logic.
- Demonstrated product mindset with a focus on ownership and collaboration.
- Experience in startup or scale-up environments is advantageous.
- Expertise in developing systems where transactional integrity and financial accuracy are critical.
