Overview
We are seeking a skilled Python/Django Software Engineer to join a pivotal central government project, working remotely with occasional required attendance in London. The successful candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary team focused on developing, maintaining, and enhancing digital services hosted on AWS infrastructure. Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain web applications and APIs using Python and Django frameworks.
- Develop and deploy services on AWS, ensuring they are scalable, secure, and performant.
- Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code to uphold high engineering standards.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support the development of automated testing and CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployment processes.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and delivery teams within an Agile environment.
- Troubleshoot issues across both development and live environments to ensure optimal service performance.
- Adhere to security policies and best practices to safeguard sensitive government data and services.
Requirements
- Strong expertise in Python and Django development.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing web applications and APIs.
- Hands-on knowledge of AWS cloud services such as EC2, Lambda, RDS, S3, or ECS.
- Solid understanding of relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL.
- Familiarity with RESTful API development and consumption.
- Experience with automated testing frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization tools like Docker.
- Comfortable working within Agile teams with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Security clearance at the SC level is mandatory for this role.
