Overview
As a Fractional IT Director, you will play a crucial role in bridging operational IT management with strategic transformation for a leading UK charity. Working closely with senior leadership and various teams, you will ensure that technology is utilized as an organizational enabler while overseeing business-as-usual operations. This part-time, remote position requires collaboration across departments and occasional travel to the Central London office for board meetings.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Group and programme teams to align technology with organizational goals.
- Develop a clear, prioritized technology roadmap that is affordable and actionable.
- Advise senior leaders on IT strategy, technology risk, and digital transformation initiatives.
- Translate organizational strategies into practical technology requirements and decisions.
- Establish guidelines for responsible AI use and emerging technologies.
- Maintain oversight of core IT infrastructure, including access and identity management.
- Evaluate and recommend digital tools and AI solutions to enhance operations.
- Facilitate communication of technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
- Significant senior-level experience in IT, digital transformation, or operational leadership.
- Experience in the not-for-profit or education sectors is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Proven ability to balance technology strategy with hands-on operational oversight of IT services.
- Demonstrated experience in developing technology roadmaps that align with organizational priorities.
- Strong capacity to translate complex technical concepts into practical advice for non-technical audiences.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365, CRM, finance, HR systems, and fundraising tools is desirable.
- Knowledge of responsible AI adoption and automation strategies is a plus.
