Overview
The Quality Assurance Automation Engineer will join the mobile platform team responsible for developing a UK government app, focusing on enhancing the app's quality through automated testing. This contractor role primarily involves writing automated tests for both iOS and Android applications, collaborating closely with developers to ensure that the application remains functional and reliable as new features are integrated. The position allows for remote work with occasional in-person days, supporting digital transformation efforts in public services.
Responsibilities
- Write automated tests for iOS (using XCUITest) and Android (using Espresso) apps.
- Maintain and troubleshoot existing Maestro tests to ensure continued functionality.
- Collaborate with developers to identify and resolve issues during the development process.
- Test common app components such as login features and validate integration with other team contributions.
- Communicate test results effectively within an agile team to inform release readiness.
- Assist in transitioning from Maestro automated tests to native testing frameworks.
Requirements
- Proven commercial experience in mobile test automation.
- Hands-on experience with Maestro, XCUITest, and Espresso.
- Ability to write clear and maintainable test code.
- Strong communication skills for explaining testing results in an agile environment.
- Experience in working alongside development teams to catch issues early.
