Quality Engineer

Overview

The Quality Engineer will serve as the client's quality representative for major earthworks activities within significant highway construction projects in East Anglia. Working closely with the engineering team, the role is focused on ensuring that earthworks and materials are installed according to specifications, preventing potential quality issues. This position requires collaboration with Site Engineers, Material Engineers, and the Quality Manager to uphold quality standards and enhance project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor earthworks activities to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Inspect incoming and placed materials for quality assurance.
  • Review testing results and quality documentation for accuracy.
  • Identify non-conforming materials and raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
  • Provide technical quality advice to Site Engineers as needed.
  • Challenge poor workmanship and ensure adherence to standards.
  • Work collaboratively with the Materials Engineer and Quality Manager to protect against quality failures.

Requirements

  • Experience in Earthworks, Highways, or Major Civil Engineering projects.
  • Strong understanding of quality assurance processes in earthworks.
  • Ability to read and interpret specifications and Quality documentation.
  • Experience in raising NCRs and managing Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
  • CSCS Card holder.
  • Strong communication skills to challenge contractors effectively.
  • Proactive and robust approach to quality management.
