Overview
We are seeking an experienced Network & Security Engineer with active SC Clearance to join a technical team on an initial 3–6 month contract, primarily focusing on network performance and security. The successful candidate will work closely with infrastructure teams, perform hands-on network management, and ensure compliance with security protocols while optimizing network resource usage. This role entails both individual and collaborative work, contributing to the continuous improvement of network and security standards in enterprise and regulated environments.
Responsibilities
- Gather, assess and review network requirements for connecting bidirectional systems.
- Plan and execute approved network changes within defined change windows.
- Monitor, maintain and optimise network performance, availability and security.
- Implement and enforce policies and procedures relating to network resource usage.
- Proactively manage, maintain and optimise network and remote access solutions.
- Drive continuous improvement through the adoption of best practices and reference architectures.
- Collaborate with wider network and infrastructure teams to ensure compliance with security controls.
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of network and security processes and technologies.
Requirements
- Active SC Clearance is essential.
- Strong hands-on experience managing Fortinet FortiGate firewalls.
- Expertise in Cisco networking and security technologies within enterprise environments.
- In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, OSI model, RADIUS, IPsec, SSL, and IDS/IPS.
- CCNP Security or CCNP Enterprise certification is desirable.
- Experience with FortiClient EMS, VPN/ZTNA, FortiAuthenticator, and FortiToken MFA.
- Familiarity with OT networks and laboratory environments is advantageous.
- Awareness of current trends in network and information security technologies.
