Overview
The SC Cleared Oracle Database Administrator will join a structured production support team, focusing on maintaining business-critical Oracle 11g databases in a 24/7 live service environment. Working alongside application support, infrastructure, and service management teams, the successful candidate will ensure operational stability, incident resolution, and performance optimization. This role requires candidates to hold or be eligible for SC clearance due to the sensitive nature of the work involved.
Responsibilities
- Provide production support for Oracle 11g databases within a 24 by 7 live service environment.
- Diagnose and resolve incidents, including priority and major incidents.
- Perform database performance tuning and optimization.
- Manage RMAN backup and recovery processes.
- Support Data Guard and disaster recovery arrangements.
- Implement database changes through controlled change management processes.
- Apply security patches and maintain compliance standards.
- Produce and maintain operational documentation and support runbooks.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience supporting Oracle 11g in a 24 by 7 production environment.
- Proven expertise in RMAN backup and recovery.
- Experience with Oracle Data Guard.
- Solid SQL and PL/SQL capability.
- Experience of performance diagnostics and tuning.
- Experience supporting Oracle on Linux or Unix platforms.
- Familiarity with ITIL aligned service management processes.
- Experience supporting high availability and mission-critical systems.
