Overview
The Senior Android Engineer will play a pivotal role in developing a new native Android application for a MedTech client, building on their existing iOS application. This hands-on contract position will focus on the entire development lifecycle, empowering the engineer to make key technical decisions while ensuring the product meets high-quality standards suitable for the Google Play Store.
Responsibilities
- Build a native Android application from the ground up using the iOS app as a reference.
- Take ownership of the full development lifecycle, from architecture and implementation to testing and release.
- Implement Bluetooth connectivity and integrate with existing backend services.
- Build responsive and adaptive interfaces with a focus on user experience.
- Implement robust security practices, including secure data storage and encryption.
- Manage testing, technical documentation, and Google Play Store submission.
- Utilize Claude Code and AI-assisted development workflows to enhance delivery efficiency.
Requirements
- Strong commercial Android development experience using Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and Coroutines.
- Proven experience in delivering and releasing production-quality Android applications independently.
- Experience implementing Bluetooth connectivity within Android apps.
- Strong understanding of Android architecture, security, and data storage practices.
- Hands-on experience with Claude Code and understanding of AI integration in development.
- Excellent communication skills and proactive approach with the ability to work autonomously.
- Bonus: Prior experience in MedTech or regulated industries is a plus.
