Overview
We are seeking a Principal Java Engineer with a strong background in Retail to join our team on a six-month contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading technical initiatives, collaborating with various stakeholders, and driving high-quality software development while mentoring junior engineers. This role involves hands-on development, focusing on building robust services and cloud-native systems, particularly in a fast-paced, agile environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead technical deep dives and knowledge sharing within teams.
- Influence product and business decisions through technical expertise.
- Write high-quality Java code using frameworks like Spring Boot or Micronaut.
- Build and support secure, high-volume payment transaction services.
- Develop integrations with payment gateways and fraud detection tools.
- Manage cloud-native systems using Terraform and Kubernetes.
- Oversee CI/CD pipelines via GitHub Actions and ensure smooth production delivery.
- Champion secure coding practices and data protection across services.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Principal Java Engineer in backend-focused environments.
- Strong expertise in Java 17+, with experience in Spring Boot or Micronaut.
- Hands-on knowledge of Kafka, event-driven architecture, and Microservices.
- Solid understanding of payment systems, PSP integrations, and compliance standards.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure, preferably Azure, and CI/CD practices.
- Strong communication skills to convey complex technical concepts.
- Experience in Agile/Scrum teams with a DevOps culture.
- Willingness to learn Kotlin is preferred.
