Overview
The Technical Lead position is a pivotal role within a key university's digital transformation program, focusing on cloud, data, integration, and operational technology. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership while working collaboratively with architects, engineers, and multidisciplinary teams to design, develop, and implement solutions across various platforms and products, ensuring modern engineering practices are applied throughout the delivery lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver cloud-native solutions using Azure.
- Lead API, integration, and data platform initiatives.
- Produce solution designs and guide technical decision-making.
- Support engineers across multiple teams while remaining hands-on.
- Drive best practices in DevOps, CI/CD, testing, automation, and operational readiness.
- Troubleshoot complex issues related to applications, integrations, data, and infrastructure.
- Work across the full delivery lifecycle from discovery to live service support.
Requirements
- Extensive experience with Azure and cloud engineering.
- Strong knowledge of API, integration, and enterprise systems.
- Proven experience designing and supporting complex data pipelines and integrations.
- Familiarity with Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Service Bus, and API Management.
- Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and modern engineering practices.
- Ability to work across multiple technical domains and influence teams.
- Experience in large, complex Higher Education or public sector environments is preferred.
- Desirable: Knowledge of smart buildings, IoT, estates technology, or operational technology.
